This Fall marks the official 20th Anniversary of Fort Knox Five, and to celebrate this milestone, the group has enlisted some top tier producers to remix a few FK5 classics. For the 150th release on Fort Knox Recordings, and the third in the new series of anniversary remixes, Fort Knox Five have tapped The Sponges to bring their magic touch to remix the electro-disco breaks anthem “The Party Pushers.”

The duo are on the forefront of a new generation of funky house producers and have built their sound by sampling classic tracks and seamlessly blending in funk, tech house and heavy bass elements. They bring all their tricks to the remix of “The Party Pushers”, incorporating the P-Funk influenced vocals of Mustafa Akbar, weaving in booming bass, dirty synths, bleeps and stabs, all propelled by those chunked out bouncy beats.

Starting with Rob Myers’ relentlessly distorted funk guitar loop and slowly building using the original’s party vocal track, they layer more and more of the vocals and tease the build until Mustafa’s vocoded voice tell you to “turn it up.” And that is just what the Sponges do, amping up an already funky song into a hands-in-the air jam!

The Sponges have taken their approach of flipping classic funk songs and conjured all their mojo on “The Party Pushers”, delivering a monster of a party track for a new generation of music lovers!
